Christmas Cookie Exchange

To kick off the holiday season I hosted my second annual Christmas cookie exchange for my English friends and neighbors plus a few of my American friends were able join us as well. It was an amazing night and everyone brought such wonderful cookies to share with each other. I had everyone bring about 4 dozen cookies which I had them display nicely on my dining room table, then I made each of them stand up and tell us about the cookies they brought.

Emily - Amish Sugar Cookies and Non-alcoholic Eggnog

Jane - Orange Chocolate Shortbread Biscuits and Chocolate Fork Biscuits

Sarah - Tutti Fruity Truffles

Janet - Triple Chocolate Peanut Butter Cookies

Julia - Coconut Tarts

Debbie - Mince pies

Juliet - Rocky Road

Linda - Chocolate Brandy Truffles

Sue and Katie Good - Cranberry and White Chocolate Cookies

After sharing some of our favorite Christmas traditions, I had everyone go around the table and pick up a few of each kind of cookie brought. This is what my tray looked like at the end of the night. It was really nice getting to visit with everyone and kick the holiday season off. My biggest treat and fear of the night was that people actually said "yes" when I offered to make them tea. I have always asked in the past but no one every says yes...maybe they had pity on me as the American, but I was in a little bit of a panic. After observing several times how it is all orchestrated I set forward in the kitchen boiling my water, but a friend of mine walked in and asked if I needed help and I graciously accepted. I was able to make up my 8 cups of tea with milks, sugars, and ones that requested black. I of course did not partake in drinking any tea myself because I still haven't caught on to it yet, but I have tried a few times. Afterwards I immediately bagged up all the cookies and stuck them in the freezer with the other 12 dozen cookies I had made and stuck away until Christmas.
