We're back...back in Germany!!! We still don't know what it is about this place but we LOVE Germany!!! After a pretty close call to getting to the airport in time to catch our plane we landed in Munich on Thursday afternoon. We rented a Ford Galaxy which ended up feeling a bit smaller than ones we've gotten in the past but we got the kids situated with their movies and off we went.
We had about a 2 hour drive down to Fussen for our first nights stay. It is so amazing to see the foothills of the Alps as you are driving around the countryside. It was quite a bit cooler the further south we got and it was fun to see snowy caps on the mountains and the leaves of the trees still turning for fall.
I love all the little German villages scattered about with all their white buildings and red roofs!!!
We stayed in the Seespitz Hotel and Apartments in Fussen and it was super, super nice and overlooked the lake. It would definitely be a place to come and stay for several days.

We got a super nice two bedroom apartment with a full kitchen and sitting area. We set the kids up in their own room with twin beds and the DVD player for them to chill out while we enjoyed the views outside.
There also happened to be about 4-6 inches of snow outside and the kids were super excited to go play in it, so Grandma Sally brought them out to make a mini snow man and snow balls. They happened to bring a couple of the snow balls upstairs after their play to "share" with Daddy.
The view from our room over the lake with mountains and the moon for a backdrop.
That night we at ate the restaurant for dinner. Ironically we were eating at a fully Italian restaurant in Germany...meaning the lady who served us didn't speak much if any English and only Italian with a bit of German. The one thing I could convey is that I was ready for some "vino blano" (bring on the white wine). We had an amazing meal, but found out at the end of the meal that the restaurant didn't take credit cards like the hotel it was in did, so the next morning we had to find an ATM to pay for dinner. Not very convenient but it worked out okay.
The other crazy thing that happened to us was that as we were eating another family came into the place to sit down. As I got up to help Harry get a coloring book, a lady looked up at me and for some reason she looked right at me. Next thing I know she says in the most American voice, "Were you at the Holiday Inn in Leiden, Netherlands this Easter?" Then it all clicked, the lady we met in Leiden that walked right up to my dad in the breakfast line and said he looked like he just stepped out of a Cabela's magazine. She was now staying in the same hotel we were staying with Kevin's parents but now in Fussen, Germany! What a small world we live in, but seriously though, how odd is that!!!???
