Kenilworth Castle

Today our family ventured westward to explore Kenilworth Castle.  We made a quick duck into the local Sainsbury's to pick up picnic food and then made our way to the castle grounds.  Kenilworth is another English Heritage site and was built in 1120AD by Robert Dudley.  The interesting thing about this chap is that he really had a thing for Queen Elizabeth I (Henry the VIIIs mother) so he built a huge living quarters for her and her staff to stay in so that he could get her to visit.

I would have loved having this place's kitchen, it was huge.  This is a spot where a huge cauldron was built into the wall and the cooks would have to climb up these steps so they could stir up the pot.  Addie as always is there to help me out in the kitchen.

Here's me and Harry inside the keep of the castle.  Look how thick these walls are...over 4 meters!!!!

Kevin was pulling triple duty by carrying Harrison, walking Addie along the castle walls and trying to listen to the audio guide as I snapped a few pictures.

Addie wanted to find out what Dad was listening to..."push the but-tons mommy."

The gatehouse here was built first to allow horses to enter the castle grounds then as residence and now serves as a museum.
