They Came From the Land up North...

This morning my mom was visiting with my Grandma Roux who lives in Rice Lake, Wisconsin. Grandma said that Grandpa was trying to talk her into driving down to see me and the kids before we head back to England, but Grandma didn't want to impose on our visit with mom and dad. I told mom to call Grandma back and tell them to get on the road and come on down...granted my grandparents are in their 70's and it was a 350 mile journey!!! Grandma said they needed to go to mass at noon and then they would decide. Well around 4 PM mom finally called them back to see what they decided and they were in Waterloo which was 2 hours away.

The last time I had seen Grandma and Grandpa was at my sisters wedding which was a month before we moved to the UK so Addison was as old as Harrison is now.

My grandparents are hilarious and so fun to visit with. Well then you add in my sister how came to spend the day with us as well she really gets the party going as well. Crystal and I had so much playing and hanging out with our grandparents and our kids at the same time...how often does that happen?

I know we all live so far apart from each other but I think that makes us set up times to spend more quality time together. I guess my brother, sister and I never took our relationship with our grandparents on both sides for granted because we didn't get to see them as much but the time we did get to spend was of the highest quality. I hope that Kevin's and my parents realize that we are creating quality time for them and our kids since we don't get a huge quantity of time with them. I do have to say though that with Skype these days that our kids get to see Grandma and Grandpa much more than we ever did.

Anyways, back to my Grandma and Grandpa's visit....Of course we had to play Wii because it's what we've done every night. I don't think my grandma has every played a video game of any time and now we were trying to teach her how to bowl on Wii Sports. It was a riot because she couldn't figure out how to release the button at the right time so she would virtually drop the ball backwards about 10 times in a row.

She finally got it once and then my sister took no more mercy on Grandma. Crystal would wind up and almost be at the TV when she let go...Dad thoroughly enforced the "wrist strap" rule with her. Her technique had to be working because she was shooting loads of "turkeys" (three strikes in a row). She would jump up and down and pump her arms up and down in success. But Grandma was the dark horse of the competition and ended up scoring a 156 on her first game ever....that is two more pins than what I had been able to get the whole time I had been home and playing!!!!!
