Touring Burghley House

I've been to the Burghley House grounds several time but now I was actually going in. The house is amazing, but you can't take take any picture in it so I can't show you any. We followed a group of school children through the house and Mike made a comment that he couldn't believe they let little kids be exposed to so much nudity. There are paintings of naked people all over the place because one of the previous owners of Burghley was obsessed with Italian art and had a ton of the rooms stripped out and painted with amazing murals. I was amazed to find out that the current owners of Burghley house had to sell 80% of the assets in order to pay the taxes for the place (that's a lot of amazing artwork split away from its original collection). They opened up the house to public to help cover the costs to upkeep the house, which seems to be the trend for a lot of stately homes. Burghley was once visited by Queen Elizabeth and they had a special bedroom done up just for her few day visit. Burghley House is also home to the filming of Pride and Prejudice and the DiVinci Code...looks like I'll have to watch the movies so I can check it out.
