Our morning adventures took us towards the town of Les Andelys which is a quaint village on the River Seine. The main attraction for us was Chateau Gillard, medieval castle ruins, which was origionally built by Richard "The Lionheat" in 1196.
The site is free to get on but costs 3 Euro to get into the keep and see the dungeons so we gave it a whirl. Here is Addison in the dungeon.

There was a beautiful view down towards the River Seine.
Another nice view down at the town of Les Andelys and the River Seine Valley.

Walking back up the stone path.
Some of the ruins of the castle. I know that we were pretty castled-out after Scotland but I thought this would be a nice view of the French countryside.
Then we head off to Giverny to see the Monet House and Gardens. Here we are on Claude Money Road (Rue Claude Monet).
Addison is our aspiring young artist. She draws pictures of some flowers while we wait in line for 45 minutes to get inside the gardens in the rain.

Organized chaos is how I would explain the arrangements of the flowers at the gardens. So much color and flowers shooting out everywhere, but I did have to show Kevin that they were an organized mess since they were planted in straight lines and in somewhat of a pattern. He got "it" after a while.
The infamous pink house that Monet settled in and gained much inspiration from. We didn't go inside the house as it was pretty busy and we were hoping to get the kids to settle well in the push chair so we could enjoy the gardens a bit.
This is the famous lily pond which Monet gained lots of inspiration for his Water Lilies paintings
. It was a beautiful site and if I had a place like this and all I had to do was paint, it would be a great gig. Hard thing was that there were sooooo many people around to get nice scenery pictures, but I tried my best.
Kevin got me in a few pictures since I am usually the designated picture taker on holiday.
This is the Japanese foot bridge draped in beautiful vines and topped with my hubby and children.
We got a little break and had a rest on some benches in the corner of the gardens.
Kevin and I thought that this was pretty cool...they got apple trees to grow along a fence. The gardens were very cool and definitely different than anything else we'd seen before. It was a bit busy, but it was also 2:30 in the afternoon. Afterwards we did a little walk through town, which wasn't very big but the weather turned icky on us and we headed on out.

We had an interesting drive to get on the motorway as to try to avoid any tolls and I had to catch a picture of the stop lights. Kevin loved the little lights on the bottom so the driver in the front of the line can see the lights change. Funny little things in France.
