It's Bonfire Night (well the Night We Celebrated It)!!

Tonight we celebrated our second Guy Fawkes Night (aka Bonfire Night).  The actual holiday is on November 5th (Remember, Remember the 5th of November), but we attended the bonfire and fireworks in Peakirk which held their celebration on Saturday night.  To learn more about what Guy Fawkes Night is about look back at last year's blog entry.  The weather was wonderful again this year.  Not too cool but the kids stayed nice and warm with our new hats from Grandma and Grandpa.   We walked over to Peakirk with the Dobberfuhl's (the other American family in Glinton) and had a great time with them as they experienced their first Bonfire Night...thanks Lana for taking our picture!

For the past week people have randomly been shooting off fireworks in their back gardens and Addison seemed to be pretty freaked out, so we were a little worried about how she would like these ones that are shot off pretty much up close and personal...only a few hundred yards away.  Both kids seemed to do pretty well.  Addison kept leading Kevin to the gate to head home and Harrison just jumped whenever fireworks went off.  The bonfire was huge and you could feel the warmth from it from where we were standing in this picture.  The coolest part was that someone had thrown in a dead palm tree and it stuck out the top.  When it started on fire, it looked like a candle on a birthday cake.
