St. Paddy's Dea (Day)

Well in full Kevin and Corrina Dea family tradition we were to have corned beef and cabbage for St. Patrick's Day. One would think that being so close to Ireland you wouldn't have an problem finding such things, but I searched three grocery stores for a roast of corned beef. I finally found corned beef but it was in the lunch meat section and it didn't look like what I've purchased in the past so I settled on something called "salt beef." The packets were small so I bought four of them at 2.48 GBP each...which translates into $5US each...yes...I spent $20 on something that looked like little packets of corned beef. I boiled some baby new potatoes, carrots and cabbage to accompany the "salt beef" and I made green deviled eggs. For dessert I made chocolate cupcakes with green frosting (Kev and I had been craving chocolate cake for some reason). Other than our special meal, it didn't feel much like St. Paddy's Day...no advertisements on TV, no specials at the pubs, no decorations in the store. I guess the English don't like the Irish much. Or I guess I've discovered that Americans will find any excuse to have a party!!!!
